The Morgan State University Chapel
in conjunction with
Opera@Morgan
presents
"Profit or Penance:  The Price for YOUR Soul?"
A Town Hall Meeting

A town hall meeting that will engage a panel of scholars, activists, educators, clergy, and citizens of the world in a discussion on the topic of what price (if any) do people place on their souls?  The panel discussion will be moderated by Rev. Bernard Keels, Director of the Morgan State University Chapel.   Panelists will be named here when they are confirmed.

This event is coordinates with the upcoming double-bill performance of two operas:
Suor Angelica by Giacomo Puccini and The Devil and Daniel Webster by Douglas Moore.  Each of these one-act operas enacts the heartbreak of one who "sold" him/herself  in exchange for an outcome that would have been impossible to achieve without making such a deal.  The question is:  do we (in the real world) make such deals?

Featured panelists include:
Dr. Brad Braxton, The Open Church of Maryland
Dr. John Connelly, Loyola University of Maryland
Mr. Dwight R.B. Cook, Murphy Fine Arts Center -- MSU
Rev. Dr. Alvin Hathaway,  Union Baptist Church
Rev. Eric King, St. Matthews United Methodist Church
Rev. Dr. Daniel Murray, Dean of Operations--Baltimore City Public Schools

Dr. Pamela Scott-Johnson,  Interim Dean of the College of Liberal Arts --MSU
